A natural vermouth from two Italians in Catalonia, built on a 19th-century herbalist recipe from Turin. Herbal, citrusy and brightly bitter, with the freshness and acidity of good wine rather than the sweetness of a liqueur. Serve over ice with an orange peel....
MUZ is the playful side of Partida Creus, the name itself is a wordplay on ver-MUZ, Massimo Marchiori's way of making the word vermouth his own. Production is based on a secret formula from the work of an herbalist of Turin, dating to around 1870. The base combines one barrel-aged red, one young red and one oxidised white wine, with the varieties changing vintage to vintage depending on what is in the cellar, to maintain a consistent style. The wine is then macerated for two lunar months with 51 botanicals sourced from that same Turin herbalist. No filtration, no added sulphur, entirely in line with how Antonella and Massimo make everything else at the domaine.
A vivid, vinous vermouth that reimagines the Italian aperitif tradition through the lens of Catalan terroir. The result is a naturally made, aromatically complex vermouth with a dry, herbal edge and bright acidity that feels more like wine than liqueur. The elevated acidity lends extra lift to the perfumed spices on the nose and a refreshing cut on the palate. It comes in at a lower alcohol than most commercial vermouths, keeping it nimble and easy to return to. Best served cold over ice with a twist of orange, or as a very natural Negroni base. Once opened, keep it in the fridge.
