The project began in 2013 when Raphaël returned to take care of his family's vineyards in Neuville-sur-Seine in the Côte des Bar. After studying viticulture and gaining experience in several wine-growing regions, he joined forces with Hannah with the desire to produce their own wines. In 2015, they vinified the estate's first harvest, which until then had been sold to wine merchants. They quickly began the process of converting their vineyards to organic farming, which led to Ecocert certification in 2019. Since then, they have remained faithful to the idea of producing authentic wines with minimal intervention and no artificial additives, favouring the expression of the terroir over stylistic effects.
The vineyard now covers several plots located on clay-limestone or marl slopes around Neuville-sur-Seine and Gyé-sur-Seine. The traditional Champagne grape varieties, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and sometimes Pinot Meunier, are cultivated with careful attention, respecting the rhythm of the vine and the vitality of the soil. The work in the vineyard is carried out gently, respecting the natural balance, without chemicals, in order to allow each plot to express its own identity.
In the cellar, vinification and ageing are carried out plot by plot and vintage by vintage, without fining or filtration, with very low or no dosage, and sometimes partial use of barrels to add complexity. An iconic cuvée, La Source Brut Nature, 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, made from old vines planted on selected plots, is a good example of this natural and sincere approach. The wine rests on lees for several months and reveals frank aromas of apple, pear and mineral notes, with a beautiful saline elegance and a precise texture.
