An Alsatian Riesling grown on granite, lively, taut and mineral. The sort of white wine that unfolds slowly in the glass and stays with you. A must-try for everyone...
Lucas Rieffel is one of the leading figures in natural winemaking in Alsace. Based in Mittelbergheim, he has been cultivating his vines organically for several years now, paying particular attention to the terroir. Le Rock takes its name from the granite subsoil in which the Riesling vines are rooted. This type of soil produces wines that are both precise and taut, with a natural acidity that carries well and a distinct minerality that lingers right through to the finish.
On the nose, there are citrus notes, candied lemon and a slight floral touch. On the palate, the wine is straightforward and elegant, without any excess richness. It is a dry white wine in the finest sense of the term, consistent from the attack to the finish. A table wine par excellence, perfect with fish, seafood, fresh goat’s cheese or simply for a glass in good company.
A family estate in Mittelbergheim that reflects the quiet evolution of Alsace over the past decades, rooted in tradition yet steadily moving toward organic farming and low-intervention winemaking, the domaine now headed by Lucas Rieffel produces precise, terroir-driven wines shaped by both heritage and thoughtful change...
