Lâcher Prise is an invitation to forget everything you think you know about Gewurztraminer. In its usual form, this grape variety produces highly aromatic, full-bodied white wines, sometimes with a sweet, syrupy character. Here, Lucas Rieffel has chosen to vinify it as an orange wine, with extended maceration on the skins that profoundly transforms the wine’s texture and structure.
The result bears little resemblance to a classic Alsatian white. The aromas are there, intense and recognisable, with notes of rose, lychee, pepper and sweet spices. But the palate is of a different nature: light tannins, a velvety texture, and a long, slightly salty finish that makes you want to return to the glass. It is a wine of character, for lovers of natural and orange wines looking to explore further. A fine dining companion for slow-cooked dishes, strong cheeses, or an evening that takes its time.
