Veronnet is the wine that carries the identity of Corentin Houillon's domaine, expressing the character of each individual parcel, from jet calcaire to glacial molasse to scree, through a blend of Altesse and Jacquère that normally complement each other beautifully. The 2024 vintage tells a different story. Frost struck the estate hard that spring, and there simply was not enough Jacquère left to meet the needs of the usual assemblage. Rather than compromise the cuvée, Corentin let the vintage speak for itself and released Veronnet 2024 as a pure expression of Altesse, classified under the Roussette de Savoie appellation.

Eighty percent of the volume ferments in 600-litre demi-muids, with the remainder in stainless steel, before nine months of ageing on full lees with regular topping up right through to bottling. This is a more hands-on approach than the usual concrete tank ageing, and it shows in the wine's structure. The result is expressive on the nose, rich yet lively on the palate, a wine that carries real depth without losing the freshness that defines every Veronnet. It pairs naturally with fish and cheese, or simply at the apéritif.

Starting with this vintage, Veronnet is also bottled in clear glass rather than the standard tinted bottle, a small but deliberate choice from the domaine to help drinkers tell the two colours of Veronnet apart at a glance. A vintage born of necessity, and one that gives an unusually pure and precise look at what Altesse alone can do on these soils.
