The Village 2020 seduces from the outset with its clear, luminous, almost crystalline colour and fine, lively bubbles. The nose combines fresh citrus fruits, lemon and grapefruit, with hints of chalk, wet stone and green apple, complemented by softer nuances of brioche and white flowers. On the palate, the attack is clean, the acidity lively and the chalky minerality elegantly structures the whole. The texture remains straightforward, taut and lively, and the very dry finish prolongs the citrus and minerality. A racy, clear and airy blanc de blancs...
Le Village 2020 is a 100% Chardonnay from a single plot, known as "Le Village" in the Premier Cru village of Chamery, in the Montagne de Reims. The estate is certified organic, and the soils are a mixture of limestone and clay, often sandy on the surface with a chalk-rich subsoil, so typical of this terroir.
Vinification takes place in 228 and 400-litre oak barrels, with spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing on fine lees for around 9 to 11 months. The wine was bottled in August 2021, then disgorged "à la volée" in January 2025. The cuvée is marketed as Brut Nature, without dosage, which allows the purity of the Chardonnay and the minerality of the terroir to express themselves fully.
This Blanc de Blancs embodies Thomas Perseval's winemaking philosophy: restraint in the cellar, expression of the lieu-dit, and an understanding of the soil and exposure. The result? A terroir-driven champagne that is taut, vertical and crystalline, ideal for those seeking a pure, mineral and lively expression of Chamery Chardonnay.
In Chamery, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, Thomas Perseval crafts champagnes of great purity that accurately reflect the energy of the terroir and the vitality of the vines. Coming from a family deeply attached to its land, he champions demanding organic viticulture and an artisanal approach that produces luminous, sincere wines of remarkable finesse...
