Thomas Perseval is a winegrower in Chamery, a village in the Montagne de Reims whose chalk and clay soils produce Pinot Noirs of remarkable finesse. Red Coteaux Champenois are rare wines, produced in tiny quantities in a region devoted to sparkling wine, and it is precisely their rarity that makes them so fascinating. The 2018 vintage, warm and sunny, allowed the Pinot Noir to reach phenomenal ripeness, whilst retaining the natural acidity that only the Champagne terroir can offer.
The result is a still red wine of beautiful depth, with aromas of black cherry, wild strawberry, peony and a subtle spicy, earthy note. On the palate, it is elegant, with silky tannins, good structure and a long, fresh, mineral finish that constantly reminds you that this wine comes from Champagne.
