A Beaujolais Gamay with the Dhumes touch. Fluid, round and generously fruity, this is a wine that needs no introduction and no patience. Just open and enjoy...
The second wine in the Le Chant de la Lune négoce trilogy, La Verticalité des Larmes draws from Gamay grown in the Beaujolais. Like Amor Invictus and Zohra, this cuvée was born from the 2024 spring frost that wiped out a significant part of the Dhumes' own estate production in Orcet. Francine and François chose to source organic grapes from other regions, vinifying them with the same absolute fidelity to origin and natural environment that defines their domaine work. No additions, no oak, aged in resin tanks to preserve freshness and transparency.
The wine is a delight, fruity, fluid and fresh, with Beaujolais giving it a particular roundness and easy drinkability that sets it apart from its siblings. Where Zohra is mineral and Amor Invictus is saline and taut, this one is all softness and generosity. It is the most immediate of the three and arguably the most crowd-pleasing. A glass to share freely.
François Dhumes may be more discreet than some of his neighbours and winegrower friends, but his quiet strength makes the Auvergne shine in the firmament of French and European wine regions. Based in the small village of Orcet, with the help of his wife Francine, he crafts Gamay wines of a rare finesse, true juices with the scent of volcanoes...
