Grape varieties

80% Rotburger, 20% St.-Laurent

Vineyard

Hutweide and Prämium, on gravely soil, on top of the Wagram-Plateau, 50m above the Lake. Mostly sandy soil underneath a very intense layer of gravel with alluvial soil from the ancient Danube river. Already outside the haze of lake Neusiedl, it's a healthy but meager and very dry soil where physiological ripeness comes early.

3 plots of Rotburger planted between 1988 and 2001, 1 plot of St.-Laurent planted in 2022, for a total of 2.5 hectares.

Vinification

Grapes are taken in at harvest, destemmed, and fermented naturally on skins for 6 days. No additives. Pressed and pumped the juice into stainless steel (Rotburger & St.-Laurent) and large acacia barrels (Rotburger). No additives and no temperature control at any stage of the winemaking. Wines matured on gross lees for 7 months without any additives, without fining and without filtration. Blended together shortly before bottling.
