A fresh and juicy rotling from Germany, combining red berries, herbal notes and light structure with a bright, easy-drinking finish...
Newstalgia 2023 is a rotling, an old German style where red and white grapes are co-fermented, here blending Müller-Thurgau and Domina sourced from organically farmed vineyards in Franconia.
Both varieties are harvested separately, then destemmed and macerated together for around three days before pressing and fermentation. The wine is aged in used 500L barrels for nearly a year, followed by additional time in bottle, allowing it to gain texture while preserving freshness.
On the nose, it shows crushed red berries, floral notes and subtle herbal nuances. The palate sits between a rosé and a light red, combining juicy fruit, gentle tannins and bright acidity with a savoury, mineral edge.
Playful yet expressive, Newstalgia revives a forgotten style with a modern, low-intervention approach, offering a wine that is both nostalgic and vividly contemporary.
Wein Goutte, a nomadic project of Emily Campeau and Christoph Müller, she a Quebecer, he a German, who met during the harvest at Franz Weninger's in Austria in 2018. After a first vintage vinified in Hungary, four wines, vermouths and even a cider, they take their bags to Germany where they settled in a beautiful farm in Franconia for their new chapter...
